IT was Southend revisited for Dot and Heather from EastEnders as they made a return to the seafront.
Dot Branning, played by soap stalwart June Brown, and Heather Trott, played by Cheryl Fergison, were happy to pose as they returned to Southend for more filming.
The town has been the focus of EastEnders action for the past two weeks, and other characters, including Whitney Dean, played by Shona McGarty, and Ryan Malloy, played by Neil McDermott, were also back in Southend yesterday.
Mystery still surrounds the storylines being played out along the backdrop of the Golden Mile.
And the cast are certainly not giving much away.
However, they were happy to chat to the Echo.
June Brown said: “I really don’t mind working with and being quoted by the local press because it’s for our mutual benefit.”
And Cheryl said it was better then being snapped by the paps. She added: “I have been a victim of the paparazzi, but this is a much better way of working.”
June was just about to leave the BBC base in the Seaway Car Park after completing her filming, while Cheryl had just arrived, but both were happy to pose with each other and members of the BBC catering team, who keep the cast well fed.
However, Shona and Neil, didn’t need anything else after enjoying fish and chips at Ye Olde Chippy in Southend.
In fact, they were probably full after being served the dish six times during different takes for the scene.
Chippy manager Ollie Chapman, said: “It was great fun having them here and they really enjoyed their fish and chips.”
Shona and Ryan then went to Western Esplanade for filming.
BBC production manager Fran Mable welcomed the Echo, but said she could not reveal the plot.
She said: “All I can say is we are back here again in Southend because it has got what we want for another EastEnders’ cliffhanger, so stay tuned.”
