SPEED restrictions could be imposed on trains between London and Southend Victoria on Sunday and Monday due to hot weather being forecast.
Rail company National Express East Anglia say the restrictions may be necessary on the line between Chelmsford and London’s Liverpool Street Station after a warning from Network Rail.
The same rails carry all the trains from Southend’s Victoria Station and Network Rail engineers are worried about the “current design of the overhead wires between Chelmsford and Liverpool St”.
A rail spokesman said: “We expect all of the remaining sections of overhead line between London and Chelmsford will be replaced by 2014.”
