A WOMAN has died in a flat fire in Southend.
Three people have been injured while attempting to rescue her from the blaze.
Firefighters were called to a mid-terrace property in Sutton Road, Southend at about 5.30pm.
Two young men were treated for smoke inhalation and a third rescuer, a relative of the occupant, suffered burns and was treated at the scene by medics.
Police closed Sutton Road during the incident.
An investigation by police and the fire service has been launched to establish the cause of the incident.
