MEMBERS of old Leigh's fishing community are preparing for the eighth annual fishing festival, which celebrates the town's sea-going heritage.
Organised by Leigh Town Council, this year's event will take place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, July 31.
The free festival will include displays from various bodies, plus the chance to speak to working fishermen to find out more about the industry.
Wooden fishing boats will also be on display, including the Endeavour, which helped rescue Allied soldiers from Dunkirk in 1940, and if weather conditions allow a trawler will land a catch which will be blessed and sold to visitors.
Full details of the event are available at www.essexinfo.net/leigh-on-sea/events/fishing-festival/
