A COUPLE’S shed has been doubling up as a feline nursery after a pregnant cat moved in and gave birth to four kittens.

The youngsters and their mum are now making themselves very much at home in the shed, which last year was home to a fox and fox cubs.

Homeowner Jan Senner, 65, was hanging out the washing in the back garden of her home, in Seaview Road, Canvey, when she heard noises coming from her shed.

When she went to investigate she found the four new-born kittens and their mum.

The kittens are now about six weeks old and Jan, and husband Terry, would like to find the owner of the mother cat and see the kittens go to good homes.

Mrs Senner said: “I was more than surprised when I found the kittens. Out of the blue, last year we had fox cubs and their mum in the same shed. I was a bit happier this year when I found the kittens.

“The mum must have got in from the back alleyway and she had the kittens in there without us knowing.”

Mrs Senner added: “We want a good home for the kittens because we cannot keep them and we would like whoever owns the mum to know she is here.”
