A RESTAURANT has been fined £10,000 for not following health and safety regulations.
Charlie Choy's, in London Road, Southend, which closed down earlier this year, was fined at Southend Magistrates' Court for offences dating back to an order made by the council in December last year.
The Environmental team at the council wrote to Naz Two Ltd, who owned the restaurant, about concerns with staff not being fully trained in food hygiene and the need for major improvements in food safety management.
Despite this warning, the firm did not make the necessary changes which led to the fine which included costs of £1,562.50.
