THESE charity challengers who trekked across Peru are hoping to raise £45,000.
A team of 20 flew to Lima to take part in a 80km sponsored walk through the country’s stunning landscapes.
Tour guides took the team through traditional Andean villages and along the magical, remote mountain trails before visiting Machu Picchu, one of the world’s most iconic archaeological finds.
Trekker Maryse Marley, 60, of Knivet Close, Rayleigh, has been a staff nurse at Fair Havens hospice, in Westcliff, for almost 12 years.
She said: “I feel humble I’m able to care for people with serious illnesses who are at the end of their lives. I wanted to trek Peru to give something back.”
To find out more about the charity’s fundraising challenges, it is holding an open day on February 11. Call 01702 220312 or 01702 220308 for more details.
