A DRIVER has been jailed for six years after he had an epileptic fit at the wheel and killed a woman.
Philip Chapman, 56, of The Drive, Rayleigh, had caused the tragic crash in Sutton Road, Southend, on September 15.
He was driving a van which caused a black Peugeot Sport, a silver Volvo Vectra, and a grey Fiat Punto to crash.
Linda Brooks, 68, of Leamington Road, Hockley, died in hospital in London, two weeks after the crash and serious injuries were sustained by several other people, including her two-year-old grandchild Alfie.
Chapman pleaded guilty to death by dangerous driving and three counts of GBH.
The court heard Chapman had a history of epilepsy.
