ANTI-CAPITALIST activists have cancelled plans to set up a camp in Southend today.
According to a message posted on the Facebook page called Occupy Southend the group were made aware of a threat from an "known extremist organisation" who were planning to hijacking the protest.
Authors of the Facebook page said Occupy Southend is a peaceful and non-confrontational movement and would not seek confrontation or violence in their protest. The group had planned to meet outside Southend Victoria railway station at 2pm today.
The message went on to say the opportunity to occupy Southend will come again and to keep in email contact with them.
