THESE are the horrific injuries inflicted on a seven-year-old boy by a Rottweiler.
The youngster was viciously attacked on Southend seafront in August leaving him permanently scarred.
Police have now released the images and an E-Fit on the suspect in the hope someone will come forward with information.
Speaking for the first time, the boy’s mother, who does not wish to be identified, said: "These dogs are aggressive and dangerous and their owner is clearly careless and irresponsible."
Her son had been paddling off Eastern Esplanade when two Rottweilers with docked tails came racing up to him.
His grandmother managed to pull the boy from the dog’s jaws and both dogs and their owner ran on to the promenade, over the road and up Chelsea Avenue towards Southchurch Park.
His mum said she was convinced her mother-in-law saved his life that day.
The attack happened at 4.15pm on Friday August 5.
The dog walker is described as a light-skinned mixed race man in his 30s, about 6ft 4ins tall and of slim build with short black hair. He was wearing a blue top and jeans.
Anyone with information should call PC James Crabb at Southend police on 101.
Crimestoppers are also offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information leading to the arrest and charge of the offender. You can pass information to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555111.
