THE vast cost of Olympic security, including the Hadleigh Farm cycle track, was revealed yesterday.
Security to protect all the new London Olympic 2012 venues is costing more than £250,000 a day, funded largely from taxpayers’ money, it was revealed.
The sum covers security guards, fencing and staff screening, before the games have even begun.
It is expected security at Hadleigh will run into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Prior to the start of the Games, in July, the Hadleigh Farm mountain bike course will be taken out of Essex County Council control.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games will then be responsible for running the course, including security.
Up to 40,000 spectators will descend on Hadleigh to watch the two-day mountain bike event.
The final bill for Olympic security at all venues is set to reach more than £2billion in total.
Plans include military officers drafted in, on top of the 20,000 security guards.
