Ambitious plans to build a new supermarket in the centre of Southend have been approved.
Councillors voted to give the plans for a new Tesco store in Short Street the green light at a planning meeting this afternoon.
Concerns had been raised about traffic congestion but after the supermarket giant came back with revised plans the proposals were agreed.
