TWO brothers have raised more than £4,000 for the hospital which helped their cousin after an accident.
George Petty, 14, and brother Ben, 11, were inspired by the work of Great Ormond Street Hospital after staff cared for his cousin, Jack Petty.
They hosted a race night at Kingswood Hall, Basildon, where they auctioned a signed football donated by the Manchester United team and held a raffle.
George, from West Horndon, said: “About three years ago, my cousin went into Great Ormond Street with a very bad fracture to his skull and they saved his life. They did a great job. A race night is where race films are played on the screen and people bet on the outcome.
“My grandad used to run them and I knew it was something I could do to raise money.”
Basildon Round Table group was impressed with their fundraising skills and doubled the money raised to £4,243, which the boys presented to the hospital on Friday.
