HUNDREDS of workers are set to come together in Southend and Basildon town centres tomorrow as public rallies are staged across south Essex.
In Basildon the action will take place in the Town Square, where union leaders will join strikers for an hour-and-a-half rally at 11am.
Officials from unions representing health workers and council staff as well of members of the Basildon Against the Cuts group will address workers.
Picket lines are also expected to outside Basildon Hospital and the council offices in St Martin’s Square during the morning.
In Southend similar crowds with gather to have their voices heard as demonstrators march from the Civic Centre in Victoria Avenue, Southend, to the Odeon Cinema in High Street at 10.45am.
Nick Bradley from the south Essex branch of Unison, said: “The Government is not telling the truth about its financial state. These pension reforms would have such far reaching consequences for generations to come, they cannot be allowed to go ahead.
“We can’t let that happen and have to put pressure on the powers-that-be to listen to the unions.”
