A MOTORCYCLIST who died in a road crash has been named as Karen Stone.

The 44-year-old, from Pitsea, suffered fatal injuries when the Suzuki motorbike she was riding collided with a Renault Clio in Suffolk.

She was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, on the A14 at Coddenham at about 2.15pm on Saturday. No one else was injured.

Suffolk Police arrested a 19-year-old woman from the Stowmarket area on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

The teenager, who was driving the Renault Clio at the time of the crash, has been released on bail until January 15. Fellow motorcyclist Jim Hurst, a member of Phoenix Riders, a club which rides from Porky’s Diner on the A127 in Basildon, described Ms Stone’s death as a sad loss.

He said: “The loss of a motorcyclist is a very sad thing, as is the loss of any person – especially somebody who dies in a road traffic accident.

“Motorcyclists by their very nature are that much more vulnerable than others on the roads.”

Mr Hurst, 52, from Southend, said motorcyclists and all road users must be prepared for darker days and dangerous conditions on the roads as winter draws in.

He added: “Any road user should be riding or driving on the roads to the conditions at the time, that’s paramount whether you’re on a motorcycle, in a car or in a lorry.”
