Dozens of Southend schools closed due to strike action.
In total 37 schools have had to close their doors to pupils as staff have chosen to support the biggest day of industrial action for a generation.
Eleven Southend schools remained partially open and six were completely open.
The six remained open were; Darlinghurst Primary School and Nursery, Hamstel Infant School and Nursery, Hinguar Primary School, Priory School, The Renown Centre and Westcliff High School for Boys.
In today's Echo Andrew Baker, headmaster at Westcliff High School for Boys, said his personal view is that the Government has made an "appropriate" offer to teachers.
