A TOP councillor has said it is "extremely disappointing" that so many Essex schools have had to close their doors due to strike action.
More than 100 schools in Essex are closed today, according to Essex County Council, but the authority has said the figure could be higher as more than 300 schools had not declared, yesterday, what their intention was.
Stephen Castle, county councillor responsible for education said: "It is extremely disappointing that so many schools are choosing to close on the day of industrial action.
"Schools have a responsibility to pupils and their parents to provide education and wherever possible I would encourage schools to stay open to fulfil this obligation."
Do you find it disappointing?
