AN ASPIRING pop star aged ten is in the running for the Christmas number one with her debut single.

Arianna Morgan’s record, a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic Songbird, will be available to download on Sunday.

The song, currently 10 to 1 with bookmakers William Hill for the top slot, will be available in shops on December 12.

The youngster, from Thundersley, performed at the Southend Christmas lights switch-on last month and could be about to hit the big time.

Her dad, Kieran, said: “It is going very well and Arianna is really enjoying it.

“It will be great to have the song on Amazon and iTunes.

“Then it will be really exciting a week later when the single is available in then shops.

“The song will also feature on the TV channel Bliss in the run-up to Christmas and Arianna might be doing some presenting for the channel.

“She is not phased by anything.

“At the Christmas lights switch on there were about 20,000 people.

“But she really had the crowds going and she loved it.” The Thundersley Primary School pupil is set to become a huge name in the music industry with an album of her own material due out early next year.

It all started when she performed at a charity gig at the White Hart pub, in Thundersley, in the summer and was spotted by a music producer.

She is also a regular performer at the Bowers Social Club, in Pitsea, and has sung at many charity events across south Essex.
