TWO police officers helped to save a man who had collapsed outside Roots Hall.
At around 5.05pm on Saturday, December 3, a man in his late sixties collapsed outside St Marys Church in Victoria Avenue, Southend, on his way home after watching Southend United play Oldham Athletic in the FA Cup at Roots Hall stadium.
Two police officers, who were already in Victoria Avenue to police the football, rushed to his aid and found that he had stopped breathing. They started to administer CPR, before being joined by a nurse who took over for several minutes until paramedics arrived.
The patient is now doing well at Basildon Hospital.
The nurse is asked to contact Sgt Bramhill at Rayleigh police station on 101.
