COMEDIAN Russell Kane was involved in some high flying drama during his journey home from Australia over the weekend.
The Westcliff native was travelling home from the country where he has been presenting ITV2’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now when the Qantas operated plane he was on had to make a sudden stop.
Pilots decided to force the stop because of a burning smell coming from the plane’s wheels.
On his twitter account, Kane said: “My plane just skidded to a standstill on the runway just as we were about to take off! Can smell rubber of tyres.”
He later added: “Everyone thought the burning smell was a an engine - but it was the tyres. Man. Scary. I thought I'd used my adrenaline supply for the day.”
The dramatic episode forced Kane, who still lives in Westcliff, into a 24-hour delay on his journey home.
