CASTLE Point Mayor Jackie Govier’s traditional Christmas Carol concert is on this weekend.

The traditional beginning to the borough’s Chrsitmas festivities, it is on at the Salvation Army Hadleigh Temple in London Road on Sunday December 11.

Hadleigh Salvation Army Band and pupils from local schools will lead the singing at the popular Christmas event.

Jackie Govier, Castle Point mayor, said: “This is a really lovely beginning to the festive season in Castle Point, bringing together people from all areas of the community and from all age ranges.

“Each year the money raised goes to Cancer Research UK and I hope we can continue to support the charity in this way for many years to come.”

Admission to the event is free but donations in aid of Cancer Research UK will be taken up through the night.

Doors open at 7.30pm for coffee with carols from 8pm.

Parking is available in Morrisons car park.
