POLICE are investigating a burglary where about £2,000 of jewellery was stolen.
It happened between 6pm and 6.50pm yesterday, December 5.
The suspect got into the house Rectory Avenue, Rochford, through a small open window while the homeowner, a woman in her 70s, was elsewhere in the house.
PC Christian Forbes said: “Burglaries have increased recently and in the majority of cases, it is jewellery that is being targeted.
"I would encourage residents to consider acquiring a small digital safe, which can be bolted to the floor, as a secure way of storing your small valuable items.”
Anyone with information should call PC Forbes on 101.
