A MAN was robbed at knife point as he made his way home from a night out in Southend.
The 43 year-old was approached by two black men as he cut through the former B&Q car park on the junction of Queensway and Short Street.
One of the suspects, described as six feet tall of medium build and wearing a light green hoody, held a five inch kitchen blade up to the victim and demanded his wallet and £600 iPhone.
He handed them over before the thieves ran off across Queensway and past the Quantock tower block.
The second suspect was five feet nine inches tall, of medium build and wearing a black nylon puffer jacket.
Investigating officer PC Reece Brent said: “Incidents like this are deeply traumatising for the victim and their families.
“At this time of year the nights draw in early and, during the festive period, members of the community may drink a little more than usual.
"I strongly urge everybody to seriously consider safe routes when walking home from a night out to ensure that you do not use expensive phones in dimly lit areas.
"Keep yourself safe this festive period.”
The incident happened at 10.45pm on Tuesday, December 6, and police officers are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring the offenders to justice.
PC Brent can be contacted at Southend police station on 101.
