Southend band the Horrors won Best Album category at the NME awards, for their album, Skying.
The music magazine had already given the album eight out of ten stars earlier this year, calling it “further proof of the Horrors’ overarching ambition”.
The awards ceremony saw the band perform alongside Florence and the Machine, who took home two awards on the night.
Bass player Rhys Webb, who along with friend Oliver Abbott set up cult Southend music night Junk, where the band formed, thanked their management as the band accepted their statuette.
The awards were given at London’s O2 Academy, Brixton, on Wednesday. The ceremony will be broadcast on Channel 4 tomorrow, from 11.55pm.
