PUB staff are organising a fundraising day to raise cash in memory of their former boss.
A host of bands will play for free at the Crooked Billet pub in Old Leigh and there will be a collection and raffle in aid of Marie Curie and Inflammatory Breast Cancer – a rare form of the disease.
The event is being planned to raise cash for the two charities and to celebrate the life of Kim Roberts, the pub’s popular landlady who died on Valentine’s Day, aged 44.
Mrs Roberts, who battled cancer since 2008, endured two mastectomies.
The fundraising will be on April 8, from 1pm. That weekend the pub is also hosting an ale festival with 25p from every pint going to the two charities.
Sarah Mathis, one of the workers at the pub, said: “I would appreciate any help from donations for the raffle to people setting up stalls and selling things.”
To help, call the pub on 01702 480289.
