COASTGUARDS were called into action after a boat became stuck under Canvey Bridge.
The authorities were forced to help the owner of a motorcruiser which tried to navigate under Canvey Road at about 1pm on Saturday.
The tide was too high for the boat to fit through and it became stuck, and was then submerged by the rising water.
Coastguards had to wait until the tide fell again, several hours later, for the motorcruiser to refloat and they were able to extract it.
A spokesman said: “We were called to give assistance to a craft which had become stuck under the bridge.
“We attended and help was given.”
