HOUSEHOLDS across south Essex have so far escaped this year’s hosepipe ban.
Essex and Suffolk Water is still warning customers to be vigilant and think about the amount of water they use.
Martin Lunn, supply demand strategy manager for the water company, said: “Following the unusually prolonged dry spell, we are encouraging our customers to work with us to use water as wisely as possible to protect supplies.
“Our resources are not currently at a level where it is necessary to introduce restrictions, but it is particularly important at the moment that we all take extra care to ensure no water is wasted.”
The company, which supplies water to 1.8 million people, is encouraging customers to be vigilant about water wastage following the dry conditions to help protect supplies into the summer.
Mr Lunn added: “We will be continuing to monitor the water resources situation very carefully. If our resource situation worsens and we do need to introduce any restrictions, we will communicate with our customers about this with clear advice and guidance in advance.”
