LIKE the rest of your readers, I am saddened by the sudden loss of this familiar figure.
I did not know him personally but his many activities made him such a familiar face in the Echo that I felt that I did.
Many tributes have been paid including a statue on the pier. I feel that a better site would be at the top of Southend High Street with the statue facing the south.
At the same time, perhaps that area could be re-named "Sir David Amess Square".
These two would remain a permanent memorial to a greatly missed Parliamentarian.
