The following letter was published in the Echo this week:
It is painfully apparent that there is a complete lack of a cohesive plan and joined up thinking in relation to Southend Council’s levelling up plans.
How the proposed building of a Ferris wheel can possibly benefit those in poor housing or facing a cost of living crisis is beyond me.

Indeed, I would suggest that people in such circumstances would be hard pushed to fund the admission ticket to such an ‘attraction’.
In contrast, yet supposedly on the same page, in the Echo at least, the poor old Kursaal, full of authentic history, charm, economic and cultural potential for all the town’s residents, is once again put out to grass while those hungry developers circle above.
