Here is a letter published in the Echo this week:
"This morning I received a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions.
"It stated that as I will be 80 years old next month I will receive a weekly increase of 25p, yes that’s not a typo, 25 pence a week.
"A whopping increase of £13.00 per year.
"This will bring my state pension up to still less than the living wage. I do not receive any other benefits.
"l have a small private pension and I worked full time until I was 70 years old (not a cushy office job sitting on my backside).
"You read every day of the high wages train drivers, school teachers, etc receive but they still want more.
"I think they just want to kill off senior citizens."
