With around 480,000 objects and renowned World Heritage Sites including Stonehenge, Hadrian’s Wall and The Jewel Tower in Westminster, English Heritage has some amazing historic places under its wing.

The charity ensures more than 400 of its sites, including palaces, castles, abbeys and Roman forts, provide the opportunity to experience history first-hand in the places it happened, and most of all, are kept in safe hands for future generations.

As owners of the location of the Battle of Hastings, where King Harold fell to William the Conqueror in one of the most decisive battles in history, English Heritage sites have also inspired many writers. Bram Stoker, who immortalised the Whitby Abbey ruins in Dracula and Sir Walter Scott, who based his novel Kenilworth on the story of Elizabeth 1 and Kenilworth Castle.

Charles Darwin’s notebooks, Queen Victoria’s bathing machine and the Duke of Wellington’s boots are some of the artefacts also in their care.

Events are celebrated too, whether it be medieval jousts to ghost tours, 500 historic events are hosted annually and inspire every generation to get involved, learn about and most of all have fun!

We’ve teamed up with English Heritage to offer 25 per cent off gift and annual memberships. So, if you’re stuck for a gift idea this Christmas, this could bring joy for the recipient all-year-round.
