SOUTHEND United’s Kevan Hurst has declared himself fully fit for Saturday’s trip to Torquay United.

The 27-year-old had been struggling with a ankle injury which threatened to rule him out of action.

But Hurst insists he will be ready to face the Gulls and is keen to continue Blues’ run of good results.

“I’ll definitely be OK for the game on Saturday and we want to keep this run we’re on going,” said Hurst.

“The last few performances have been very positive and, although it will be tough going at Torquay, we want to go there and pick up more points.”

Hurst is also determined to play a part in that happening. And he again looks set to line up in the midfield after shaking off an ankle problem he picked up against Bristol Rovers nine days ago.

“The ankle had been causing me a few problems and I didn’t train for a couple of days in the build up to the Port Vale game,” said Hurst.

“I got it caught in the turf and it flared up an old injury.

“It was something I had suffered with before but the physio Ben Clarkson worked hard with me and thankfully everyone is OK again now and I’ll be fine for Saturday.”

Blues go in to the game unbeaten in their last four outings.
