SOUTHEND United centre-back Ryan Cresswell hopes to edge nearer his own perfect 10 by scoring at Torquay for the second season running tomorrow.

Cresswell has already hit the back of the net five times for Blues this season.

And he now has his sights set on reaching double figures before the end of the campaign.

“Before the start of the season I was talking to Graham Coughlan and we made five my first goalscoring target but now I’ve got that already I want to get 10,” said Cresswell.

“I scored actually scored at Torquay last season when I was with Rotherham and we drew there 3-3 so it would be great if I could do it again tomorrow but only this time I hope my team gets the three points too.”

Blues will make the long trip to Devon in good spirits having gone four games without a defeat.

But Torquay will provide tough opposition and sit eighth in the League Two standings.

In striker Rene Howe they also boast one of the league’s most in form forwards and Cresswell is relishing the challenge of trying to keep him quiet.

“You always want to test yourself against the best players at your level and he’s certainly one of those,” said Cresswell.

“However, last weekend we were able to stop Tom Pope and Port Vale getting a goal and hopefully we can also come out on top in our battles tomorrow."
