JACK Daly hopes to be able to help Southend spring a surprise at Chinnor tomorrow.
The 18-year-old scrum half is currently with the Seasiders from Wasps.
And he is determined to play a part in their poor run of results coming to an end.
“It’s been really good to here and hopefully we can start to get some good results soon,” said Daly.
“I think the way I play will suit Southend well so hopefully I can help the team get some good results and there were definitely positive signs in last weekend’s game against Worthing.”
Southend led early on against their flying visitors from Sussex but were eventually seen off 43-29.
That made it six defeats in seven games for the Seasiders who are third from bottom in the standings.
In contrast Chinnor sit sixth in the table.
But Daly, who may well have to settle for a place on the bench, is looking forward to getting back in action.
“I’m enjoying getting the games and it’s good for me at this stage of my career,” said Daly, who is based in Upminster.
“I’m in my third year with Wasps and still train there four times a week.
“I then play for Southend at the weekend and I’ve fitted in really well.
“Everyone has helped me to settle and I’m glad to have come in.”
And the move has also seen Daly follow in the foot-steps of his father Paul, who captained the Seasiders during his own playing career.
“I’ve always had links to Southend because of my dad,” said Daly.
“With that in mind it was nice to come down and get to play for them as well.”
Southend will also have second row Lee Guess available this weekend while centre Tom Ashton will be back on the bench.
