WESTCLFF will be seeking an improved performance in National Three London & SE tomorrow when they host third placed Bishop’s Stortford at the Gables.
Although Captain Simon Jones returns to the squad the influential Ben McKeith is not available and tight forwards Wallace and Barnett will also miss out.
Experienced back rower Angus Martyn will face a late fitness test but last week’s debutants Pakau and Whelan are likely to retain their places in the back line.
And first team manager Rick Compton is hoping his team can spring a surprise.
“Bishop’s Stortford are an excellent side but we will aim as we always do to show that we too have quality and can compete with them for 80 minutes as we look for a positive result,” said Compton.
“They arrive having lost only narrowly to the two teams immediately above them and have picked up this season where they left off last.
“They have a mobile pack and fast free running backs that score a lot of points but we’re looking forward to the test.”
Westcliff go in to the game third from bottom in the table and have lost their last five matches.
Thurrock, who are ninth, have been beaten in their last four games and face a difficult game at home to fourth placed Tonbridge Juddian tomorrow.
