ESSEX Leopards will not be playing in the British Basketball League next season.
The Big Cats have been planning to make the step up from the EBL.
But the club’s general manager Dave Ryan has now confirmed that will not be happening just yet.
“At this moment in time we do not feel ready to make the step up into the BBL,” said Ryan.
“We want to be able to be competitive when we met the step up and not get hammered, so we will be staying in the EBL next season.
“Our crowds did improve after Christmas though and we will look at things again next season before deciding if we are then ready to go up into the BBL.”
Leopards played in both Basildon and Southend this year but are expected to play all of their home games at the Brentwood Centre next term.
