CONOR Clifford will make his first league start for Southend United at Chesterfield this afternoon.
The Irishman will replace Marc Laird in midfield but the rest of the Shrimpers side remains unchanged as Mark Phillips again misses out with a groin problem.
As a result, Adam Thompson will again line up alongside Luke Prosser at the heart of the back four while youth team defender Josh Banton has been named on the bench.
Southend United: Bentley, White, Thompson, Prosser, Coker, Atkinson, Leonard, Clifford, Straker, Corr, Eastwood.
Subs: Smith, Timlin, Reid, Hurst, Cowan, Payne & Banton.
