SOUTHEND United are asking their fans to show support for both the first team and the youth academy when the Shrimpers host Morecambe at Roots Hall next month.
The club has labelled the match, which takes place on Saturday September 7 at Roots Hall, as youth day.
And before the game both the development and shadow squads will be parading around the pitch while all age groups of the academy will be doing the same at half-time.
Anyone under the age of 16 who buys a ticket in advance for the game against Morecambe will then be able to come to one of the next four home matches for just £1.
Blues boss Phil Brown is backing the idea and hopes a big crowd will be in attendance to roar on his side.
“Building attendances is something we’re very keen to do as a club,” said Brown.
“This is also a great opportunity to come and show your support for the players of the future and give them a fantastic reception.
“We’ve already seen fruit for the youth department’s efforts this season with Dan Bentley and Jack Payne featuring for the first team with Seedy Njie, Mitch Pinnock and Ryan Auger also part of the first-team set up.”
Fans can also help fund the youth academy by signing up to Blues Lottery for just £10 a month.
The money from the Blues Lottery goes towards supporting Ricky Duncan and his staff in helping produce further first-team players.
