FREDDY Eastwood will be targeting his best run of goalscoring form in eight years when Southend United visit Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow.

Not since 2005 has the 29-year-old scored in four successive league games.

But, having netted in his last three outings, that is exactly what Eastwood is aiming to achieve against the Chairboys this weekend.

“I’ve scored three in three and now I want to make that four in four or hopefully even get a couple of goals in our game against Wycombe,” said Eastwood.

“I’m on a high at the moment. I’ve been delighted by how the team and I have both started the season and I’ll certainly be taking that level of confidence in to the game.”

Should Eastwood hit the back of the net at Adams Park then he would also equal his tally for the whole of last season.

However, he has not been surprised by his more regular return to the score-sheet and always felt confident of rediscovering his best form.

“I always knew I was capable of getting the goals, I just needed the games to be able to show that,” said Eastwood.

“I’m getting them now so I’ll get better and better as the season goes on.

“I’m not setting myself any goalscoring targets because that’s something I’ve never done.

“I just want to get as many goals as I can and help the team win promotion which matters more than anything else.”

Eastwood will again be lining up alongside Barry Corr against Wycombe.

And he is keen for his strike partner to start getting back among the goals on a regular basis.

“Barry’s not scoring as much as me at the minute but that will turn at some stage I’m sure,” said Eastwood.

“Hopefully we can both score on Saturday and become a proper partnership.

“But we need to make sure we get back on track after losing at Chesterfield and I’m confident we’re going to do that.”

Blues go in to the game sitting fourth in the early League Two standings after winning three of their opening four league games.

Wycombe are currently 18th after winning just one of their opening four games.
