C&K Basildon Ladies maintained their 100 per cent league record, beating Norwich City 2-0 to stay top of the Women's South East Combination League.

Basildon went in front after 15 minutes when Karen Stephanou hit a long diagonal ball in behind the Norwich left back which found Karissa Rodney.

She then advanced into the penalty area and hit a shot over the Norwich goalkeeper and in to the back of the net.

Basildon maintained that narrow lead until the half-time break and the second period opened with both sides struggling to create clear chances.

However, as the half wore on, the match started to become more stretched and the chances for Basildon started to come.

On 75 minutes a through ball by Hannah Porter found Carly Eagles on the edge of the penalty area but her left-footed shot went wide.

But Basildon finally got the crucial second goal after 75 minutes when Jenny Brown-Wealls struck a direct free kick from 25 yards into the top corner of the net.

The final chance of the match came in the 86th minute when good interplay between Nicola Carty and Lucy Wyatt finished with Eagles being played in behind the Norwich defence, but her chip bounced just wide of the post.
