SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown will be taking a look at a trio of trialists in a behind closed doors friendly against Gillingham today.

Senegalese midfielder Gomis Bedsente will again be in action for the Shrimpers as he attempts to secure a permanent contract with the club.

And former Barnet winger Anthony Edgar, along with ex Chelsea striker Bobby Devyne will also be lining up for Blues.

“Anthony has bags of pace and can play on either wing so we’ll be having a look at him and a couple of others in the game today,” confirmed Brown.

“Bobby was actually brought up in Enfield but he played in Denmark before spending six months with the New York Red Bulls and he’s another one we’ll be taking a look at.

“Gomis will be playing as well and his representatives are due to come in and talk with us tomorrow about what is going to happen next.”

Bedsente, 25, has previously played for Lens B in France and Puertollano and Almeria B in Spain but he now wants to play in England.

He will line up in central midfield against the Gills with Edgar on the wing.

The 22-year-old came through the youth ranks at West Ham and has previously played first team football for Bournemouth, Yeovil and Barnet but he is currently without a club.

Devyne will be in attack and is also looking to kick start his career.

The 20-year-old Kenyan helped Chelsea win the FA Youth Cup during his seven year spell at Stamford Bridge but is now keen to return to the game on a permanent basis.
