SEVEN-FOOT-TALL Lawrence Brown is looking to make a big impression with the Essex Leopards this term.
Brown has agreed to stay with the Big Cats for a second season.
And he cannot wait to get back on court.
“It is great to have re-signed with the Leopards,” said Brown.
“Everyone in the organisation, from the owners to the fans, is really dedicated and always behind the team 110 per cent and who wouldn’t want to play for a team with that kind of support.”
Brown helped the Leopards win the National Trophy in his first season with the club and he is now hoping to add more silverware to his collection this time around.
“We had a good season last year, winning the Trophy, and I am very keen to build on that winning tradition with some more silverware this season,” he said.
“Everyone has come back prepared for a winning season and that has shown in our pre-season practices and in our game against USA Select.
“We still have a lot to work on before the season starts but we have a very strong base to work from.”
Brown started the season well against Team USA with 19 points, six rebounds and four blocks in 24 minutes of action as the visitors never coped with him.
And he will be looking for a repeat performance this Sunday as Leopards take on his former London Lions team at the Brentwood Centre.
“I am looking forward to playing the London Lions because there is always a bit of extra competitiveness that comes out when you play against an old team,” said Brown.
“I think it will be a good game against a BBL team and we are looking to come out with a win to send a message to the rest of the league.”
