HULLBRIDGE Sports and Bowers & Pitsea kick-off their Essex Senior Cup campaign this evening.
Sports go into their home match with London APSA on the back of a 4-0 victory over Long Melford in the FA Vase at the weekend.
And manager Dan Braney is looking for more of the same tonight although he is planning to mix his team up for the fixture.
“We are buzzing after Saturday but every game is different and it depends what team turns up on the night,” said Braney.
“But the match is a good chance for us to try out some of the youngsters we have at the club, which is important for the club as a whole.
“We have a few players injured at the moment but we have a large squad and that’ll give some of them a chance.”
Hullbridge are currently 12th in the Essex Senior League while their visitors are 15th and they have yet to face each other this season.
Bowers will be looking to make it back-to-back wins after dumping Essex Senior League rivals Southend Manor out of the FA Vase with a 1-0 win on Saturday.
John Doyle’s team head to a Saffron Walden Town side who crashed out of the Vase following a 3-1 defeat to Norwich United.
Doyle will be hoping to get some information on Norwich from Saffron after drawing them in the first round of the FA Vase, but he is very much focused on tonight’s match. “Saffron used to play in the Essex Senior League and we are expecting a tough game because most Thurlow Nunn League sides are decent,” Doyle said.
“We will be resting a few players after the demands of Saturday’s game but the Essex Senior Cup is as important to us as the Vase and you always hope to get a good draw against one of the pro clubs at some stage.
“But first we’ve got to get the job done against Saffron. We played FC Clacton in the previous round and they are also a Thurlow Nunn side, so we know what to expect against Saffron.”
Saffron Walden play in Thurlow Nunn Division One and Bowers will be up against Thurlow Nunn Premier side Norwich United in the first round of the FA Vase on October 19.
Doyle is expecting the trip to Norfolk to be a tough match and is planning on having Norwich watched ahead of the game.
Bowers will also be heading to Norfolk in the Vase after being drawn against high-flying Thurlow Nunn Division One side Swaffham Town, who beat Deeping Rangers 5-2 on Saturday.
Essex Senior League leaders Great Wakering Rovers face Southend Manor in the Essex Senior Cup tomorrow night and have been drawn at home to Ipswich Wanderers in the Vase.
Wanderers, who are mid-table in Thurlow Nunn Division One, defeated Kirkby & Pakefield 3-1 to secure their place in the second round of the Vase.
