BARRY Corr is determined to rediscover his goalscoring form to fire Southend United back to winning ways against Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall tomorrow night.
Corr has not netted since this opening day victory against Plymouth Argyle.
And he is eager to get back to his best to help Blues end a five match winless streak when they take on the Pirates.
“My start to the season hasn’t been great and I want to change that, starting with the game tomorrow against Bristol Rovers,” said Corr, who has not scored in his last eight appearances.
“The red card I got at Hartlepool might have been rescinded it still set me back a bit.
“But like all strikers I put myself under pressure to score goals because that’s what we’re judged on so I want to get back among the goals again.
“I’m always confident of scoring at Roots Hall but I think I’ve only played there twice so far this season.
“Hopefully I’ll get another chance tomorrow and I get score to help us get the victory we need.”
Corr also feels the return of winger Kevan Hurst will also help improve his strike ratio.
Hurst, who had more assists than any other League Two player last season, missed the start of the current campaign with a knee injury.
And Corr is delighted to see now him back in action.
“When Hursty was out injured I kept on nagging him to hurry back,” said the Irishman.
“Then when he did get back in to the team it was when I was left out.
“For me he’s the best crosser of the ball in our league and that certainly suits my style and strengths.
“At the start of the season we had very good players in the team but their strengths didn’t suit mine so maybe that’s why it didn’t work as well.
“But we’re all fired up for the game tomorrow.
“We keep on saying the same things about what we need to do but we need to go out there and deliver now.”
