THERE is still room for improvement according to Bowers & Pitsea boss John Doyle after his side’s 3-2 triumph over Saffron Walden Town in the Essex Senior Cup.

A Lorenzo Ramsey double followed Alex Tenola’s opener to make sure the visitors progressed to the third round of the competition despite finishing the match with 10 men.

Tenola put Bowers ahead in the 20th minute despite a bright start by Town when the striker stabbed home from eight yards out.

The hosts equalised nine minutes later through Joe Murphy who rose up to nod in a huge throw-in from team-mate Joe Rudkin.

Ramsey settled the tie early in the second half by poking in a shot after goalkeeper Paul Wood spilled a Tenola shot before he got onto the end of Ibbs Conteh’s right wing cross in the 53rd minute to make it 3-1.

Murphy pulled one back for Town in the 60th minute from another Rudkin long throw and a tense finish was set up when Tenola was red-carded for violent conduct when he raised his arms to an opponent with eight minutes still on the clock.

Bowers held on though with Doyle saying his team played well but can still get better.

Doyle said: “I am very pleased with the win and the way we played with six changes to the side.

“This goes to show our squad is getting stronger week-by-week but there is still room for im-provement and I hope we can take
