HULLBRIDGE will not get another chance to face one of Essex’s professional clubs like they did last season after being knocked out of the Essex Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

A brace from Vandel Nunes saw London ASPA grab a 2-1 away win in the second round of the competition.

Last season the hosts welcomed Southend United to Lower Road in a plum tie but now have to concentrate on Essex Senior League and FA Vase commitments.

Tom Ranger went close for Sports inside the first 10 minutes when his shot was saved by ASPA keeper Mark Richardson.

But on the quarter-hour mark Nunes opened the scoring for the visitors when he steered in a shot from eight yards out following a cross by Fahad Nyanja.

But the lead lasted less than a minute as Michael Edgar got a head to a long ball from Carlos Mullings which bamboozled the ASPA defence and left Richardson unsure whether to come out and collect it or not.

Chances fell to both sides with Ranger coming close again for Hullbridge and Jason Agyekum drilling a shot goalbound for ASPA.

Early second half chances fell to Hullbridge with Richardson pulling off two great saves to block a swinging Mullings strike and an Edgar free kick.

Then in the 56th minute an underhit back-pass saw APSA get their winner as Josh Thomas ran on to the ball before his shot was saved by Bobby Mason. But Nunes sent the rebound into the net from the edge of the area.
