A LAST-MINUTE winner saw Lowestoft Town snatch points away from East Thurrock on Tuesday night.
Curtis Haynes-Brown’s 90th-minute winner was the only goal of the Ryman Premier game at Rookery Hill between the sides who met in the play-off semi-finals last season, which Lowestoft also won 1-0.
The defender’s strike followed a long free kick into the Rock’s penalty area after a mistake at the opposite end of the field as the hosts looked to get a winner themselves.
Lowestoft counter-attacked and won the free kick which found Michael Frew’s head and was latched onto by Haynes-Brown who volleyed into the roof of the net and give the Trawlermen their first win in six games.
Rocks’ boss John Coventry said: “We deserved at least a draw from the match and we did really well against a side who will be one of the top sides in the league by the end of the season.
“Losing in the last minute is disappointing and for the goal to come from a mistake one of our players made is more disappointing.
“We were looking to be positive late on but rather than put the ball in the box we passed it back to them and they went on to score.”
