ANTHONY Straker is ready to revert to left-back if needed for Southend’s clash with Bristol Rovers tonight.
Blues will be without Ben Coker who serves a one-match suspension after being sent off at Bury last weekend. And Straker is favourite to replace him in the back four.
“It’s disappointing Ben is out because I enjoy linking up with him but if I change position and go back there then I don’t mind,” said Straker. “I’ve enjoyed playing further forward on the left wing this season but I’m equally as happy at left-back.
“I just want to be playing and helping the team get the results we all want. Bristol Rovers aren’t in the best of form either so it’s going to be a fight out there. But, hopefully with us being at home we’ll get the result we want to get back on a run.”
Luke Prosser is another option for boss Phil Brown at left-back but if Straker does get the nod then Michael Timlin could also be recalled on the left-hand side of midfield.
