BILLERICAY Town's hopes of an FA Cup run ended with a 2-0 defeat at St Albans City.

The opening goal came in the 17th minute when James Comley played a ball out wide to Victor Osubu.

He managed to play a cross into the box which fell to Mark Nwokeji and the striker powered the ball home.

St Albans, who are currently 11th in the Calor Premier League, then doubled their lead seven minutes into the second half when John Frendo scored with a curling left-footed free-kick after Billericay captain Richard Halle had brought down Comley on the edge of the penalty area.

St Albans remained on top after extending their advantage and could have increased the margin of their victory in the closing stages but both Chris Watters and Elliot Bailey failed to convert chances that came their way in front of goal.

Billericay will now be bidding to bounce back to winning ways when they return to Ryman Premier League action at home to Kingstonian on Saturday.
