CANVEY Island boss Danny Heale has urged his team to start taking the chances coming their way, beginning with tonight’s FA Cup replay at St Neots Town.
The Gulls drew 2-2 with the Calor League Premier side club at the Prospects Stadium on Saturday in the second qualifying round.
But Heale is still confident his team can progress into the third qualifying round of the competition, just as long as they can improve their finishing in front of goal.
“We need to be taking more of the chances coming our way because it’s starting to concern me a little bit now,” said Heale (pictured).
“We’re creating oppor-tunities but we’re not converting them and that means we’re not killing teams off when we should be.
“We are working behind the scenes to try and bring another striker in and hopefully that might happen by next week.
“But if we turn up tonight, roll our sleeves up, get stuck in and then finish well too I think we will be in with a great chance.”
Canvey will go into the game without the injured Billy and James Hawes, Nick Humphreys and Jay Curran.
But if the Islanders do triumph without them then they will host FC Clacton or North Greenford in the next round. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw at the weekend and will also play their replay this evening.
